Since 2016, Square 4 Solar has helped commercial clients embrace solar energy. Based in the North West and working across the UK, we bring specialist solar PV knowledge and a personal, consultative approach to every project.

Solar is our focus. From the initial design through to installation and ongoing maintenance, our team works with businesses and organisations to deliver solar PV systems for both new-build developments and existing buildings.

Our in-house design team develops each system around the requirements of the project, while our operations team coordinates delivery through to handover. Our in-house asset management team can then provide monitoring, planned maintenance and panel cleaning, supporting clients beyond installation.

Over the years, we have built experience across a broad range of sectors, including retail, education and the public sector. We understand that every building and client is different, and we take the time to develop a solution that reflects their needs.

Our work with Lidl demonstrates the experience and long-term relationships behind Square 4 Solar.

Through a framework agreement, we design, install and maintain solar PV systems for Lidl’s new stores. We have also delivered retrofit installations on existing stores, bringing our solar expertise to different buildings and project requirements.

With our in-house design team and project delivery experience, we support the programme from the initial design through to installation and ongoing care.

The equipment we choose matters beyond its performance. At Square 4 Solar, responsible procurement forms part of how we plan and deliver commercial solar PV projects, with careful consideration given to the manufacturers and suppliers we work with.

We look for documented evidence to support our purchasing decisions, helping us understand the journey from raw materials to the finished solar panel. This gives our team a stronger foundation for selecting equipment and answering clients’ questions about their installation.

Our commitment extends to the communities around us. By purchasing equipment close to our Lowton base and sourcing materials and labour near project locations wherever possible, we aim to keep more of our investment within local economies.
Knowing Where Our Panels Come From
We believe it’s important to understand where the products we use come from. We work with solar panel manufacturers that can provide documented traceability, giving us visibility of the sourcing and production of the panels used on our projects.

Our approach goes beyond knowing the name of a manufacturer. We seek documentation that traces the sourcing and production of individual panels, helping us make informed decisions about the products we select.
A Commitment to Responsible Sourcing
Square 4 Solar requires manufacturers to provide assurance that forced labour has not been used in the sourcing of materials or production of the panels we use. Responsible sourcing is a non-negotiable part of our approach.

From our base in Lowton, we work with clients across the UK while continuing to invest in the communities around us. We use a local supplier for our solar and mounting equipment and, where possible, source materials and labour close to the projects we deliver.
We’re also proud to support women’s and girls’ grassroots football as front-of-shirt sponsors for Pilkington FC Women and Bold Heath Girls.
